I had a very amazing role model (Hannah) inspire me when I heard she was doing pull-ups. I have always loved exercising and moving, however, I wanted to get stronger, feel more safe, and be more confident as a women. I began CrossFit wanting to learn how to safely and correctly lift weights and to get stronger. What I learned early on was that CrossFit would also help me improve my endurance, my flexibility and my cardio (all of which I also learned could be improved)!
What are some of your goals in the gym?
I would like to get kipping pull-ups, improve my double-unders, and work on all movements that involve a lot of coordination. I also am always wanting to get stronger.
What do you love most about coaching athletes?
I love working with people. Every person has such an interesting story and journey. Seeing hard work and effort turn into progress and improvement is very rewarding. I also love watching people transform mentally as well as physically. There are so many related facets of health besides exercise and movement.
What advice would you give to a beginner CrossFit athlete?
Be open! The CrossFit community is very giving and welcoming. Be open to feedback, strange ideas, trying new things and meeting new people. If you take risks and open yourself up, you will grow in so many unexpected and amazing ways.
Which types of community work inspire you the most?
Although many people find it strange, I love working with teenagers. They challenge me, ask hard/good questions, and make life interesting and fun. I truly love teaching math and strength training to teens.
What do you like to do outside of the gym?
I love sleeping, going out to eat, beading jewelry, and spending time with family and friends.
